Day at the Park

Mady found a friend at the park today. (And a random hat that was in the car!)

2nd Grade Pioneer Day

The second grade is all dressed up in their best pioneer gear!

We took the bus to the San Leandro Campus and had lunch before heading out for some square dancing! Alex and I are ready to swing our partner and do si do.
After square dancing lessons, the boys learned some pioneer games.
This one is basically line tag...there were 2 foxes who were trying to capture the chickens. All while staying on the lines.
This was a race with a horse and driver.

Next up the boys and girls switched places and the boys made butter,
 macaroni jewelry,
 Lincoln log structures,
 and panned for gold.

Zoo Field Trip

Today Mady's class met at the Oakland zoo for a fun outing.  We didn't stay with the group while watching the animals, but we all joined up for lunch and rides.

Mady took a selfie with Daddy's favorite animal...Warthog!
Contemplating the life of a giant tortoise.
Merry-go-round with the other Madeline and Harper.
Flying high (or low) with Heloise.

Cal Day

This morning Zachy participated in a study at the Berkeley Early Learning Lab and then we wandered over to the Natural Sciences building to have some fun at Cal Day.  Mady had the opportunity to touch some critters. Like a Madagascar hissing cockroach.
And a lizard of some sort (I don't remember what kind, even though I'm sure they told us).
Zachy and Alex picked up some snazzy new shirts and everyone made a play-doh circuit.

Mady met some of the Cal cheerleaders and was very excited that they let her hold the pom poms. Mady didn't want to give the pom poms back though.
And the boys posed with face paint and Oski.

We even ran into some school friends along the way!
All in all, a beautiful day at a beautiful campus.

International Day 2015

This year for International Day, Alex's class is celebrating Ireland and Zachy's class is celebrating Singapore. Zachy's class dressed in red and white to represent the flag of Singapore.  Alex's teacher found cute shamrock shirts for the kids to wear.
The green shores of Ireland.

The Singapore bulletin board was amazing.

Looking for the four leaf clover in a basket of shamrocks.
 Hugging it out in Africa.
I wasn't able to get many pictures of the activities this year. But the kids had lots of fun visiting each of the countries, sampling the foods, and playing games or doing projects.

Near Disaster

Mady was playing hockey in the back yard with her brothers and tripped. Since she had her hockey stick in her hand, she caught herself with her face.

We took these pictures to text to the on call dentist. The dentist didn't think we needed to make an emergency appointment but left a message for the office so that we could get in the next day.

After getting her tooth checked out by the dentist, he thought that she would heal up without needing any additional care. Yay! Mady did have to be careful about biting things, so we went back to cutting up all of her food. And everytime she ate something she would remind us "back teeth. back teeth."

Look at this cute little tough girl.
