April Fun

We had lots of fun this month. Here are some photos to prove it:

We finally ordered and received Alex's birthday sandbox.
Zachary was so excited he couldn't wait for the sand!

Even Daddy enjoyed digging.

Zachary joined a motorcycle gang.

We watched the fog roll in under the Bay Bridge on one of our shoreline walks.

We re-created history.

And we played at home.

Kids at Work

Today was Take Your Children to Work day on the Island. This is the 3rd year that Alex has been able to attend, and Zachary's first. Every year is a bit more fun for Alex, and I imagine the same will be said for Zachary. There was a helicopter (which we didn't get a chance to see up close), a small boat to tour,

bouncy houses,

crafts,

carnival type games and the big hit, a petting zoo.

Both boys really enjoyed petting and brushing the animals.
Zachary has yet to learn "gentle" and a poor rabbit paid the price. The animal pen was set up in a grassy area and we decided to have our lunch off in the corner of that area. Alex kept running over to the fence and watching the animals and running back to us, so excited to have gone to the animals. I think he would have stayed with them all day. Alex is becoming braver when it comes to bouncy houses. This year there was one that was more of a "run" and then you could jump off the end into a pool of bounciness. Alex finally decided he could go down the path, but when he got to the end, he turned around and shimmied off and then looked at me, raised his arms and said "all done, please". Maybe next year!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! The boys were visited by the Easter Bunny, who left them baskets of goodies. Alex is a huge fan of jellybeans. Any flavor will do, he even really likes the licorice ones, and they make for a nice mess on his hands and face too.

Yesterday, we colored our Easter eggs. I only boiled up a half dozen, and then one broke, so we had 5 to color. Alex picked 3 colors of dye, yellow, green and purple. Zachary sat and watched and had fun tossing his plastic eggs about. We even tried to dye the plastic eggs, but it really didn't work out.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, egg dye actually dyes stuff, whether you like it or not!

I think I can

It may be awkward and slow, but it is an effective means of movement. Zachary has been a mobile wiggle worm for about a month and a half. Before, I wouldn't have called his movements crawling, but in the last few days, he has put it all together and there is definite purpose to his wiggles. Alex has been a big help, showing Zachary how to crawl and putting tons of toys in front of him. Of course, Alex is the one who will benefit least from a mobile Zachary! All those fun toys he tries to keep to himself are now in danger! Here's a look at the last of the peace.

Fan Appreciation

The Oakland A's held a fan appreciation workout today. I guess they'll just let anyone in seeing as I'm not a fan. (hee hee) It wasn't as fun as last year's event when we were able to walk around on the field, but then again, last year we didn't get to watch practice.
Stomper's Fun Zone was open too. Alex did the soccer station and insisted on kicking the blue ball. He hit the post, so close! But he still won a pack of baseball cards. Then he and Zachary took a ride on a helicopter. Phil was apparently doing something for exciting or more likely, silly. Oh, wait, there's Zachary!

Later, after naps and dinner, we took the wagon out for a stroll. In the beginning, both boys were riding. Then Alex was running around, climbing on rocks. Finally, Alex decided that he wanted to "Pull wagon please". He did an amazing job of pulling the wagon and collecting interesting pieces of wood, pine needles, seed pods, etc. Every time we thought he was worn out, he would insist on pulling more. At one point, there were a couple of big bumps in the path. Alex kept talking about the "big bump". After we turned toward home, he would stop and sit down in the middle of the path and as soon as we asked if he wanted to take a break and ride, he would jump up and yell "Pull wagon please!"

And the rest

We tried to keep Auntie busy while she was visiting. On Tuesday, as Alex would say "Meet Dad market". Phil joined us at the Farmer's Market for lunch. There is a great Indian food stand there that is so yummy. Of course we loaded up the stroller with fruit, nuts and breads too. Wednesday Nichole joined us at the park for playgroup. All the little boys were showing off for her. I really wish I had a photo of her and the boys playing ball, they all loved it! Here are a few pictures from the day.

We had lots of fun! Come visit us again soon!
