Rainy Zoo Day

Alex's school had a field trip to the zoo today. It poured, and most of the animals were wiser than us and stayed inside. No, it didn't just pour, there was a full blown thunderstorm. Phil was the only one who saw the lightning, but we all definitely heard the thunder! This is not typical Bay Area weather. Of course Wednesday and Friday were typical beautiful, sunny days. Most of our school friends decided to brave the weather, and at least make a mad dash through the zoo. Our little group caught a rare viewing of the lions, they are usually hidden among the trees, but we saw them resting by the pond, really close to the fence. Then they ran up the hill. Our second amazing sighting was of a chimpanzee coming out of his "cave", throwing a raincoat over his head and dashing over to another covered area. You could definitely see the resemblance to humans in that action! The boys each have a zoo key, that turns on information boxes near many of the animals. After listening to the spiel about the flamingos, everyone decided to act like flamingos!
