Holiday Photo

For our Christmas card picture this year, Phil had a great idea of including the old and new Bay Bridge. And, he knew a great spot to get the picture!  We went to Sector San Francisco, on Yerba Buena Island to find the perfect view.

It was very sunny, so we had some trouble getting everyone's face just right, and eyes open.

Zachary wanted to touch the bridge, so we put him to work holding it up.

We went over to Treasure Island to get a few shots from the other side. We didn't have much more luck with the sun, and there was more wind, making everyone chilly. This one was in the running for the card.

I like this one, even though there is too much back light. We'll have to try this location another time.

After all of the picture taking, Alex and Zachary had some hot chocolate, everyone had a snack, and we had a chance to watch a cargo ship coming into port at the Oakland shipyard.

I have no idea what was going on in this picture, but I think Mady won.

Guess who passed the Goldfish class and is now a Pufferfish! Congratulations Zachary!

Christmas Boutique

Alex and Zachary's school held a Christmas Boutique so that the kids could do a little holiday shopping. I'd say most of the kids mostly purchased snacks, but they all had a fun time! I volunteered to make some crafts, set up the table, and help with the selling for the Kindergarten table.

Each class had a time to come through and make their purchases. It also was a chance for them to learn about money and money management.

Coast Guard Day

For the 223rd celebration of the Coast Guard, the party was held at a big park in Castro Valley. When we arrived, the first order of business was ice cream, of course!

These summer shaggy boys and not so shaggy girl loved the big sandbox. And as a bonus, it was shady. A definite relief from the hot valley temperatures!

There was a delicious bbq lunch and cake. A clown was making creations out of balloons, and of course there was body painting.  I really have no idea what design is on Alex's hands, but he seemed pretty happy about it

The kids even made friends with the forest creatures.

Mady decided it was time to sit up and have more fun. Lots of toys helps too!
