Flying

Madelyn took her first ride on an airplane. We didn't even start her out easy, we went right for a cross country journey to meet more family.
Fortunately, Zachary was on hand to give her some extra snuggles.
Even more fortunate was having a little extra space to stretch and snooze!
Madelyn did a great job on both legs of the journey. She slept most of the time, but when she was awake, she didn't cry.
Aunt Leslie, Uncle Jeff and Ryan ~ Here we come! Hope you're ready!

Happy 4th Birthday!

Good morning to our newest 4 year old!
Zachary was a very smiley, happy boy today. Being the birthday boy is fun!
For dinner, chicken nuggets, carrots and fruit. Good choices Zachary! Madelyn was very intrigued by the balloons. She loved watching them bob around.
Time for cake and ice cream. Chocolate covered cherry cake and homemade ice cream. Yum!
We had a special surprise for the birthday boy. We took him to the garage and he saw a shiny new bike sitting there. His eyes got wide and he asked in the most incredulous voice "Is that for me?!?" It was so sweet. He couldn't wait to get outside and try it out!
Gma was on hand to celebrate with us too!

Sprinkler Ball

Zachary and Alex had fun playing in the backyard with the sprinkler ball.
Afterward, they posed for a picture with Madelyn. What nice smiles everyone!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!
We headed out early for the Alameda parade. After staking out our spot along the route, we had breakfast and then Phil took Alex to his designated line up spot. Alex is in the parade this year!
Just before the parade started, a low-flying helicopter flying the American flag buzzed the route.
Everyone loves the dancing horses.

Alex rode his scooter with his kung fu school. Some of the older students performed some skills, and the younger kids rode bikes, scooters, or skateboards. The parade is 3 miles long, add on walking to the line up spot, and the walk from lining up to the start, and it is a long way. We told Alex that he could drop out of the parade when he got to where we were sitting. He was definitely worn out, but he had a fun time!

Zachary was happy to have company to watch the end of the parade!

The Websters

Mark and Sara, friends from Washington, came to visit us from Colorado. We haven't seen them since before the kids. Somehow they agreed to stay with us, even with a newborn! We had a nice dinner and evening of catching up.
In the morning, Zachary and Alex tagged teamed Miss Sara and convinced her to read to them.
We're so happy we had a chance to get together! Thank you for adding us to your plans Mark and Sara.

Later in the day, the kids went for a scooter ride.

Party Time

We celebrated Zachary's 4th birthday at Pump It Up. Everyone paid close attention to the rules before ignoring them in reality.
Zachary's crown was a little bit too big, but fit nicely as a face mask.
The tough brothers, ready to take on the world!
 Love the air shot.
Madelyn slept through the party. I don't know how, there was a lot of excitement.
Zachary was happy to share his throne. First with his brother, then with lots of friends.
Zachary's theme was dinosaurs.  Auntie Nichole had given us an awesome cake pan that makes little dinosaur cakes. The dinosaurs are stuck in the mud (chocolate ganache-yum!).
The favor boxes.
Everyone had a great time jumping, climbing and sliding. Thank you for celebrating with Zachary!
