Happy 4th!

Once again, our boy imposed early mornings had a major benefit.

First we set off some poppers. The boys weren't really able to pull the strings, but they tried. Somehow, Phil and I both ended up with little burns on our fingers from them.
Then we set out early to stake out a viewing spot for the parade. We found a nice spot, set up our blanket and chairs and headed off to breakfast. The boys enjoyed having a bit of space to roam about, and it definitely made the parade viewing more enjoyable for us to have a place to sit and allow for roaming!
Perhaps the highlight of the parade was the license plate on the car of Coast Guard Vice Admiral Brown.

Happy 11

For our 11th anniversary, Phil and I took the boys to the City. Even though it was a holiday weekend, our boy imposed early wake-up time allowed us to beat the crowds, and we had fun shopping, riding the carousel and enjoyed a great window table for lunch.
I guess we took a picture of the wrong half of the family for this occasion. Oh well, they are cuter!

The end of June

I haven't updated lately, because we haven't had any big adventures. Here are a few pictures of the boys just hanging around home and having fun.
Having a snack (in the street of course) with neighborhood friends.
With Daddy on Father's Day showing off Alex's crafts. The boys also helped Daddy plant some vegetables out back...we'll let you know if the crops survive!
Sandbox play is serious stuff around here.

Last Day

The last day of soccer classes for the summer went pretty well. Lately, Alex has been fairly indifferent about the class, while Zachary is the star pupil. Today was a bit of the reverse though. Zachary's coach wasn't there, and he really likes her, he talks about her all the time. I think he missed her and wasn't as inspired as usual. On the other hand, Alex was excited that it was the last day and participated much more.
Getting pysched! Warming up.

ACTION!

Alex and Seamus.

Zachary rocks the warm-ups!

More warming up, and then a parachute spin.

Thanks Coach Diba and Coach Mariel!

Discovery Museum

Even though the only thing Alex wanted to do was play with the trucks, we actually found some new areas to explore.

Of course, the boys also played trucks quite a bit.
One thing I have meant to do while at the museum is take a picture of the boys with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. And finally, here it is!
Isn't it beautiful?
Just as we were leaving, the bridge started to peek out of the fog.

You've been Frocked

Phil was frocked today. That means he will have the responsibility and wear the rank of Commander, but not get paid as such. Zachary helped me change out his shoulder boards.
It was a nice, low key ceremony...with cake. It may have been a serious occasion, but Miss Roberta had the boys in mind too. When we walked into the conference room, Alex circled the cake table a couple of times, and then came over to me and said "Mom! There's a cake." "Yes, there is." "Is someone going to give me some?" Everyone giggled.Later, Alex tried on Daddy's hat.

Little Farm

Just a couple of cute pictures from our trip to the Little Farm. Here's an excerpt from the ride out.
Zachary: I pet the cows?
Me: Yes, you can.
Zachary: Alex! I pet the cows!
Alex: I know!
